With Icebox sitting this one out and the anything but lucky team of Garrett Gomez and Lookin At Lucky broken up, I'm putting Baffert's beleaguered super horse from the west back on top. Super Saver and Paddy O'prado have certainly earned their place on the list of possible winners. Both horses should benefit greatly from having the cagey Cajun jockeys Calvin Borel and Kent Desormeaux providing steerage. Caracortado is my long shot, which may be close to a favorite by post time.

The Post Position draw results for the 135th Preakness Stakes taking place this Saturday, May 15th 2010 at Pimlico Race Course didn't do much to change my original picks. I've heard some arguments for First Dude and Aikenite, but nothing compelling enough enough for me to include them in my short list. This is definitely not a great field and with everyone jumping on the Super Saver bandwagon there may not be much money to be made. However, it's hard to ignore what Super Saver and Calvin Borel are capable of, so he will definitely be in my Box tomorrow.
Here are the results of the Post Position Draw for the 135th Preakness Stakes. This year's race consists of a field of 12. Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, the 5-2 morning line favorite, drew the 8th post position. The Preakness Stakes takes place this Saturday, May 15th 2010 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.

It's still too early to finalize my picks for the 135th Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Park this Saturday, May 15th 2010. Especially since the post draw doesn't take place until this afternoon. However, I felt it would be a good time to start laying out my choices and I'll post my final list on Friday (or Saturday should my picks change).
The 2010 Preakness Stakes post position draw takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, May 12th. Here are the location and process details. The 2010 Preakness Stakes Post Position Draw will use a "pill pull", which employs a small numbered ball in a blind draw, to decide post positions for the middle jewel of racing's Triple Crown.
I've been itching for the last week to post my short list for this year's Preakness but it's hard to short list any horses when only a handful have actually confirmed for the second leg of the triple crown. Watching the way Ice Box ran the Derby, I was really looking forward to seeing him run in the Preakness and probably would have listed him as my favorite. Unfortunately, trainer Nick Zito announced Ice Box would not be running in the Preakness and would be resting for the Belmont. It wasn't a total surprise move since this horse seems to do better on longer rest, but what a rematch it would been.
Here is the recap of the 136th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky on May 1st, 2010. Congratulations to winner Super Saver ridden by Calvin Borel and trained by Todd Pletcher. This win marks the 3rd in 4 tries for Borel. The field was a sloppy one, but Borel rode brilliantly and pulled off the win!
