2010 Short List of Kentucky Derby Winners as of 3-30-10
Contributed By Big Daddy No BucksPosted on 3/30/10 8:35 PM
The 3-28/29-20 races didn't rock my list of of Derby hopefuls. Only the 10th horse in my watch list changed. With the exception of Endorsement's surprise win in the Sunland Derby the weekend's races were lackluster at best. Endorsement beat the popular derby hopefuls Tempted to Tapit and Conveyance going away. The DRF gave the spoiler Endorsement a Beyer Speed Figure of 101 as well (second only to Eskendereya). As a result Discreetly Mine gets the boot and Endorsement takes the number 10 slot on my short list.
Next weekend's races should narrow the herd of potential Derby contenders considerably. Both the Wood Memorial and Santa Anita Derby are loaded with talent, and are likely to greatly impact who stays on the Derby trail and who will be seeking softer fields.
I'll post the most recent version of my short list every Tuesday up to Derby Day, so come back regularly to see how "astray" I go!

My Crazy Pick of the Moment for The Triple Crown
I'm still not seeing aything that looks like a horse that could go "all the way." I'm sticking with Ice Box for now.
