2010 Short List of Kentucky Derby Winners as of 4-6-2010

The Wood Memorial and Santa Anita Derby created as many questions as it did answers. At this time, Eskendereya definitely appears to be the horse to beat. Sydney's Candy won the pace less Santa Anita Derby commandingly even after stumbling out of the gate, but can he win a race with a demanding pace? And then there is Lookin At Lucky...He just can't seem to stay out of trouble, or possibly its jockey Garrett Gomez who can't keep Lookin At Lucky out of trouble.
Looking forward, the next two races on the road to the Kentucky Derby are the Arkansas Derby and the Blue Grass Stakes. We'll get a look at Aikenite, Interactif, and Odysseus in the Blue Grass. Dublin and Noble's Promise will make their closing arguments for going to the Kentucky Derby at the Arkansas Derby. While it would take a trip of a lifetime for any of these horses to topple Eskendereya from the #1 pick for the Derby, all other positions on my pick list remain open.
I'll post the most recent version of my short list every Tuesday up to Derby Day, so come back regularly to .see how "astray" I go!

I'm still not seeing anything that looks like a horse that could go "all the way." I'm sticking with Ice Box for now.
