2012 Kentucky Oaks Field and Breakdown

Fifteen of this year's prettiest and most talented fillies will be running in the 2012 Kentucky Oaks today. This year's Oaks looks like it is overloaded with opportunities to enjoy a little excitement, as well as make a little money. Grace Hall is the 5/2 morning line favorite. I think it's likely her talent is overestimated, but believe she will be a factor in the race. My other favorite horses in the Oaks include Broadway's Alibi and the very interesting Jamima's Pearl, who has been working with Bodemeister. As much as I like the horses above, if I could only place a win ticket, I'd be placing it on On Fire Baby.
Other horses I will be using in exotics are Eden's Moon, Believe You Can with Rosie Napravnik - a jockey I always like to see win - in the irons, and Hard Not To Like, who is running on the dirt for the first time today. My under the radar horse for the 2012 Kentucky Oaks is Summer Applause. If the 15-1 morning line holds, I will definitely be putting some money on the Summer Applause/Calhoun/Gomez team.
