2013 Florida Derby Post Position and Analysis

The Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park is the premier Kentucky Derby prep race in the state of Florida. It's a 100-40-20-10 points race and it happens today - March 30!
The team of Todd Pletcher and Rosie Napravnik will be on the rail with two-year old champion Shanghai Bobby. Dale "Pass Me Another Corn Dog" Romans runs two horses - Pick of the Litter and Pontiff, the lone maiden in the race. The field also includes Itsmyluckyday, who beat Shanghai Bobby in the Holy Bull Stakes (G3), Frac Daddy who ran 6th in the Holy Bull Stakes, and Orb who won the Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park. Also running are Indy's Illusion , an A.P. Indy Colt, Merit Man winner of the Tim Conway Stakes at Santa Anita and Spectacular Bid Stakes at Gulfstream Park, Are You Kidding Me who is making his debut on dirt, and Narvaez, Holy Bull colt.
I like the Shanghai Bobby with Rosie Napravnik to win this one. Itsmyluckyday will push the Pletcher colt again and should definitely finish in the money. My longshot is Merit Man ridden by Kent Desormeaux.
