2013 Louisiana Derby Post Position and Analysis

Are you ready for another exciting on the way to the Kentucky Derby? This weekend features 3 headline races, the Florida Derby (G1), the UAE Derby (G2), and the Louisiana Derby (G2). The Louisiana Derby is a 100-40-20-10 points race.
Todd Pletcher is running two horses in this race - Palace Malice, a horse with just one maiden win and Revolutionary, winner of the Withers (G3) at Aqueduct. Plether's two will be joined by Code West, a Baffert trained Lemon Drop Kid ridgeling who nearly won the Risen Star (G2), Proud Strike a Steven M. Asmussen trained colt, Titletown Five who finished second in the Gazebo at Oaklawn Park, and Brazilian Court a Michael Maker trained colt who won his maiden by 19 1/2 lengths.
Also running in the field are Hip Four Sixtynine, Golden Soul, Whiskey Bravo, Sunbean (currently on a three race winning streak), Departing (undefeated in his three career starts), Mylute, Ground Transport, and Nina's Dragon.
I like Pletcher's two in this race, but Palace Malice will be without jockey Rosie Napravnik. Edgar Prado is more than capable, but of the two I like Revolutionary better. Baffert's Code West is a very serious contender and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up the favorite by post time. I like Code West or Revolutionary to win it, but I'll find a way to work Departing, Mylute, Palace Malice and Golden Soul into my exotics. Ground Transport is my long shot (and a long shot he is).
