Race time! Less than 24 hours away we will see the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes! Lets get our gambling caps on! Last year, when California Chrome was racing for his bid for the Triple Crown, 7.8 MILLION DOLLARS was riding on him! Add that to another 83 MILLION DOLLARS which was bet by fans at other tracks simulcasting the race! That's a cool 90.8 MILLION DOLLARS TOTAL! Its expected that this years race will top California Chrome's Betting Dollar amount with American Pharoah on the cusp of horse racing history!
Winner: My prediction is that Frosted takes the 1st place spot upsetting American Pharoah's bid at the first Triple Crown in 37 years! Yes.. I said it, there will be NO Triple Crown this year! Last years Belmont Winner, Tonalist, was ridden by no other than Joel Rosario who won the 2014 Belmont Stakes! Frosted is well rested and ready to upset the odds on favorite! A middle position out of the starting gate is a great place to be in the 1 1/2 mile race and Rosario's experience riding Tonalist last year will propel Frosted to the Winners Circle!
2nd Place: American Pharoah will finish behind Frosted in a close race at Belmont. While American Pharoah's win by 7 lengths was impressive at the Preakness splashing through sloppy conditions, it was the slowest 1st place finish since 1956! American Pharoah does have the Winning Belmont Bloodline running through his body. His paternal Grandfather is no other than the 2003 Belmont Champion, "Empire Maker." Winning genes will not be enough for this favorite Thoroughbred. Unless the track conditions get wet and muddy like the 2015 Preakness, I see American Pharoah coming up short by 2 1/2 lengths.
3rd Place: Materiality will round out the top 3. He had a rough trip heading to Churchill Downs. He finished sixth; however, he showed tremendous growth at the Kentucky Derby splitting and passing horses turning for home. Materiality looked strong in practices and will benefit from the long length of the 1 1/2 mile Track at Belmont.
2015 Belmont is a few hours away! If you want to play is safe and hold on to the hope that American Pharoah can possible pull the first Triple Crown off in 37 years you can bet an exacta box on the 3 horses listed above. (An Exacta box will give you all possible first, 2nd, and 3rd combinations) - (If you bet $100 exacta box on Frosted, American Pharoah, & Materiality, your total bet *or as I like to call it, "your investment,"* Would be $600) $100/box * (6)= $600 - If you have never placed a bet before, you would say, "Race 11, $100 exacta box 5, 6, 8."
If you want to go a little more balls to the wall, Bet a Straight Exacta. A Straight Exacta means you are betting on the EXACT ORDER you predict will be the outcome for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. If you were to bet the Straight Exacta following my soothsayer abilities, you would say, "Race 11, $100 Straight Exacta, 6, 5, 8."
