Day 12: #19 Reveron
Reveron is a Songandaprayer and Carolina Sunrise colt. In seven career starts he's 3-2-2, never finishing out of the money. That includes a win in the Gulfstream Park Derby, a show in the Sam F. Davis G3, and most recently a place in the Florida Derby. Despite all that, this horse is not getting the attention he deserves.
In the Florida Derby, Reveron went to the front and stayed there throughout the race. Many will argue that Union Rags, the obvious favorite, was boxed in and never had the opportunity to open up. However, the Kentucky Derby field will only be larger, and therefore, no easier.
The distance in the Florida Derby wasn't a problem for Reveron either, which is another reason I would have liked to see him run on May 5th. Unfortunately he will not have enough earnings to make the trip. This may be Agustin Bezara's first real contender since he started training, but that doesn't mean he's not for real. I would keep an eye on this horse for the Preakness.
