Day 15: #16 Rousing Sermon
Rousing Sermon is a Lucky Pulpit and Rousing Again colt. In 9 career starts he's 2-2-4 with only one finish out of the money. His most recent third place finish in the Louisiana Derby has him right on the bubble for graded stakes earnings with a shot at the Kentucky Derby.
Jockey Mike Smith is a world-class athlete and Hall of Famer. However he and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer are a combined 4-for-39 in the last five years and 0-for-10 in graded stakes races. This isn't the pairing that's going to break that record for the duo. We like Rousing Sermon, but we're paying more attention to him for a possible run in the Preakness and with a different jockey. Don't worry Smith fans, he'll have no trouble finding a mount in Kentucky.
