Kentucky Derby Contenders - Day 16: #15 Stanford

Stanford is a Malibu Moon sired colt trained by Todd Pletcher. He placed in the G2 Louisiana Derby and should have enough points to make a Run for the Roses in Kentucky.
Stanford was sold as a yearling for $120,000, but picked up by Pletcher as a two-year old for $550,000. He broke his maiden in his first attempt but finished 6th in the G2 Saratoga Special to end 2014. His 2015 record is a cool 1-2-0-0 and he seems to be progressing at exactly the right stage. Trainer Todd Pletcher has been happy with his progress.
"I thought [Stanford] worked extremely well," Pletcher said. "[He] went off easy and finished up strongly. [He] galloped out great. [He seems] to be moving very well."
This horse may be a sleeper for the Kentucky Derby, but we definitely have an eye on him.
Check back tomorrow when we preview #14 on our list, Ami's Flatter.
