Prospective is a Malibu Moon and Spirited Away colt. In 8 career starts he is 4-2-0 and won the Tampa Bay Derby on March 10. However, in the Blue Grass, his latest race against guaranteed Kentucky Derby competition, he finished a disappointing 6th. He still has enough graded earnings for a spot in the Kentucky Derby on May 5th.
The loss in the Blue Grass is not a good sign and even though he won the Tampa Bay Derby, he didn't face the best of the best in that race. He got killed in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile against the same colts he'll face in the Derby last November. Anything can happen on the first Saturday in May, but this horse won't be making my short list any time soon.
