Kentucky Derby Contenders - Day 2: #29 Power Broker

Power Broker, a Pulpit and Shop Again colt, broke his maiden in the FrontRunner Stakes (G1) in his fourth career start. The expectations were high for this horse but he finished a disappointing 5th in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Two year old's can mature quickly, and Baffert thinks this horse is ready, with plans to run him in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) this upcoming weekend. He's going to need more points to secure a trip to Kentucky on the first weekend in May and the Santa Anita Derby is a good a test as any.
"The Breeders' Cup race was a disaster, I gave Bejarano bad instructions," said Baffert. "He hasn't lost any of his conditioning, because he really hasn't been away. He's just been away from the action, but he has a really good foundation on him."
Bejarano will be aboard for the ride again. This is a race we'll be watching closely and if Power Broker shows up, he'll very likely show up in our exotics for the Derby as well.
