International Star is a Michael Maker trained colt who's riding a win streak into the Kentucky Derby that includes the G3 Lecomte, G2 Risen Star, and the G2 Louisiana Derby. Despite the dominating run, he's not getting the recent attention that the Baffert and Pletcher stables seem to be attracting. However, he currently sits atop the leaderboard and is working out at Churchill Downs in anticipation for May 2.
Maker likes what he's seen so far out of the three-year old.
"One trait about him is he's going to give you 120 percent. Whether that's good enough or not, we don't know." said the trainer.
Our advice: don't ignore this colt. Whether he has enough to win remains to be seen, but he's a good bet to finish in the money.
