Caixa Eletronica, a popular four-time graded stakes winner, died as the result of injuries he suffered in a training accident Jan. 4 that also claimed the life of loose horse Six Drivers at Belmont Park.

Three Chimneys Farm has secured a 50% interest in multiple grade I-winning 3-year-old Will Take Charge, this year's favorite for the Eclipse Award as 3-year-old male champion and also a Horse of the Year candidate.

The purse for the Belmont Stakes, the third jewel of the Triple Crown, will be $1.5 million for the 146th renewal June 7, 2014, the New York Racing Association announced Dec. 28. The 1 ½-mile race had been worth $1 million since 1998.
