Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez, who will ride undefeated Wood Memorial winner Verrazano in the May 4 Kentucky Derby, returned to competition the afternoon of May 2 at Belmont Park, where he finished seventh on his first mount since April 7.

Zenyatta, the 2010 Horse of the Year, produced her second foal on her birthday April 1, Team Zenyatta confirmed via Twitter. The popular mare foaled a colt by top sire Tapit at 11:47 p.m. EDT at Lane's End Farm near Lexington.
