Hall of Fame rider Kent Desormeaux is recovering from five fractured ribs and a bruised lung in Covina, Calif., where he and his wife, Rosie, recently bought a home, according to trainer Bob Hess, a longtime friend of the jockey.

Jockey Rajiv Maragh underwent surgery the morning of Sept. 28 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., to repair a broken right arm suffered when he was unseated during the $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park.
