Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider's Departing rolled to a strong 3 1/4-length victory in the $750,000 Illinois Derby April 20 at Hawthorne Racecourse, proving his class after a third-place finish in the last month's Louisiana Derby.
Glencrest Farm LLC's Disposablepleasure went off as the 6-5 favorite and did not disappoint in Saturday's Grade 3, $200,000 Sixty Sails Handicap at Hawthorne while paying $4.40, $2.60 and $2.20 to her backers.
Jean Everest, John O'Brien, Danny Valdez and Michelle Turpin's Chips All In ran down even-money favorite Obviously in Saturday's Grade 3, $100,250 San Simeon at Santa Anita to earn his first graded victory.
Hronis Racing's Lady of Shamrock prevailed as the 1-5 favorite in Saturday's Grade 2, $150,000 Santa Barbara Handicap, but only after the stewards demoted the first-past-the-post Viva Carina.
